I am 5' 10 and have 17" Carlini Pist apes and 1.5 risers on my 04 Heritage and love the way they look! However it does take a little getting used to. I haven't had them on long but they are pretty cool, just feels a little different.

I put 14" Wild1 Chubbys on my '12 Lo two weeks ago and wish I put them on months ago. It didn't take any time getting used to the new height, I've put over 400 miles on them already. Wont go back to low bars on any bike in the future. I'm 5'10" and was deciding 12" or 14"s, I think the 14"s were the right size, perfect fit for my riding position and am very happy w them.

Well, thanks for the info and the replies guy's. I think this winter when I tear the bike down to do more chrome work and give it it's winter storage cleaning and wax job. Its looks like I am going to pull the trigger on some apes. I am 99.9% sure I am going to go with the 16 Gangster apes and the 1.5" bars, I am 5'11" 225 if that helps anyone in aiding on my choice. I didn't like how close the evil apes are up top. OH, and of course I have to change my risers mount, God forbid I run across an inexpensive mod.!!! The new cables I will need are what? plus 8" or plus 10" on the install?

Go with +12 on the cables and lines and at least +10 on wiring.

12 will give you enough to route them with flow instead of them looking streached.
Go with Barnett and internal throttle from Exile for a super clean look, Barnett gets their brake lines from goodridge which are great as long as they send you the right length. when the 2012's came out it took them a few tries to figure out the stock lines were about 2" longer than the 2011's

You may want to check the Carlini website to be certain, but I believe their bars are actually 1.5" taller than advertised (16" bars would actually be 17.5"). Just something to consider...

I love my 18" apes on my Heriatage and yes they are comfortable. People that say they can't be are the ones who never rode with them imo.
