Has anyone tried the Jam Straight LED bulbs from J&P cycles?
I just picked up a set of jam straight leds because my left rear kept blowing a filament.seems like the rubber gasket inside was shaking causing it to rattle. So far so good,im sure they not as bright as cd leds but also were only 16.99...just another option.
I have LED bulbs from superbrightleds.com. The front signals are Amber 18 Led towers, and my rears are my brake lights as well so I got Red 45 Led towers. The 45's are nice and bright, definitely more noticeable than stock, the 18 are similar to stock brightness, but i mostly got them to look sharper with the HD LED Headlight I planned on ordering. I have no load equalizer, and had to trim the base of the bulbs carefully with a dremel to make them fit the factory sockets. The dash indicators blink at normal speed for a flash or two, then flash very quickly, but my actual LED signals always blink at a normal speed. The only side effect is my security light comes on when I use the brakes, but goes away shortly after I let go. I don't have a security system so I don't sweat it.
I've ridden behind a bagger which has Ride Time lights in place of stock and that bike certainly flirted w the "too bright" category. I'm working out a budget to replace all my rear lights and the front fender tip. The Ride Time turn signals go completely dark while flashing which is different than most. I'll be using smoked lenses.
I've already picked up a Kuryakyn R-T-B harness to use. I also have one of the HD bullet style turn signal bars (from a Road Glide?) to replace my stock Heritage.
Last week I was sitting at a red light next to a truck full of oil barrels when a car struck the truck. The truck and car ended up entirely on the other side of the painted stop strip. A piece of the car hit me on the back. Happened around 6:00PM. We think he was on his phone maybe. It has made me far more aware of needing more light on the back of my bike. I've been running the event over and over in my mind and can't believe how fortunate I was he didn't swerve to miss the truck and knock the pickup behind me into me.
