WARG...I know dude, I can feel your pain! I don't like others getting near my ride with anything that can do damage, but when I do something that makes a boo-boo on my own...I go ballistic on myself and pout for two days! At least that's what my wife says...

HD makes a chrome knurl-nut with the HD Logo on it that replaces the screw (came with my HD Sidekick Seat Kit)! No more screwdriver...no more chances of pouting for two days! They probably sell it as an individualpiece...check the HD Wishbook.

Good Luck!

Steve

Did the same thing while removing the seat on my bike. Had the socket under my arm and ...of course.....it slipped and put two small chips on the top of the rear fender ....one had to be right on the pin stripe as well!!! I always put something on top of painted surfaces when working but figured this was such a simple task why bother...well now I know why....!!!

If you know a good body shop in your area take it in and ask them what they'd charge to fix it right. I can't imagine it would be much and they can probably make it look like new again...

I know I'd be P'Od if it was me and I'm **** enough that I'd spend the $ to make it right. I don't think I could trust myself with touch-up paint. I'm not that talented. That's just my opinion, I could be wrong. Good luck!

I will join the club too. When i was removing the passenger padthe edge of the bracket caught some paint. AND I have had the screwdriver slip as well! Its sucks, but i figure that breaks the bike in and no other harm shall come its way! [:@]

As a result of reading this tread, I purchased the JPCyles part to prevent it. It should arrive any day. Now, watch me scratch mine replacing the Damn screw!!

Watch out for the bolt in the rear pillion seat. When I am putting the seat on with rear pillion attached, I always lay a towel over the rear fender. After I have set the seat in place, I pull the towel out.
