Good luck on the reservoir gasket, the stealer ship no longer sells them alone. They now only come with a new cap at $29.95! What a load of crap. Luckily my parts guy had a set of take-off controls and tossed me the gasket off it.
I used the hose off an old motorcycle battery and an empty 2L coke bottle to bleed my brakes.
A little trick I learned when running the string through the bars in the several internal wiring jobs I have done.. Instead of trying to suck the string through with a vacuum, simply crimp or tie a fishing line weight onto the end of the string. Drop it through and .5 seconds later.. Done. No more fighting with the vacuum or the string getting caught on a burr inside the bars.
**I expect to receive full credit from now on for this idea...**

I used a small chain... worked like a champ. Also kept my original wiring tubing on... it seems pretty tough so I thought it would help protect the wires going through.
16" black apes from hcc, and I have all of the cables/wires (clutch, brakes, electronics etc) coming, supposedly the electrical is plug-n-play no splicing or soldering needed.
there is no doubt on my mechanical ability, and I really think it is about a 3-4 hour job..
Fro what I have gathered I will aso need
-brake fluid
- clutch release cover gasket
- trans fluid?? (not sure if some will comeout hen i remove cover?)
I have no idea about the comment on removing brake lever, Iwsa planning on removing entire assy from bars and re-installing on new bars, ..what is meant with the tip breaking off?
Thanks all,
HCC setups are great because they include Motion Pro cables which are about the best out there.
A member called RRambo had one of the best ape install write-ups on here (same type of bars on a Lo, too), but his pics are all gone...
Good luck with the install. I'm sure it's gonna be wicked-cool!
[Insert picture of a gorilla attempting to do needlepoint] Yeah, except for the part of taking off and reconnecting the plug ends on the factory wires. [/Insert picture of a gorilla attempting to do needlepoint]
