I haven't had a problem, but there are a couple of threads on the site from people who have had a hard time removing that nut.
The acorn nut is on a captive bolt that is held by a bend piece of reasonably soft metal ...
If it was tightened too fast, it might have messed up that metal bit. which will allow you to turn the nut and the bolt, but the nut will not come loose.
Solutions offered were putting some tape on the console, have a small flat screwdriver under the acorn nut, press upward and see if that helps getting the acorn nut off.
If that does not help, you will have to cut it off.

I'm thinking about adding one to my slim but converting to a wide glide console. I like the look of the gloss black metal look all the way down the tank instead of that leather strap. No idea if it'll fit yet. Just looking at ideas. But was going to add this speedo to the mix if it all works.
I thought it was pretty cool. I tried it and changed it out after a bit. To me it was flawed at the angle I was looking at it. The way the gauges are angled with the small numbers so close, you really have to guess down at exactly what RPM's and speed you were going. The tach would read 3500 on the angle, but the actual was more around 3100 or something. Just too small. Same with speedo... forget getting within a few miles of speed. It was like you had to read it in increments of 5 miles per hour.
The gas gauge, and gear indicator were really cool tho. The lights were cool as hell, but I do very minimal riding at night, so that was just for fun moreso than anything else.
I switched to the spun aluminum speedo/tach that eventually is getting discontinued. It looks more bling in the day time and reads much better. The new one is pretty cool, I just didn't care for the tach and speedo reading mostly. They could make one a bit more shiny too.
If it does go out in 3-4 years... that's not bad since you can get one for under $300.00. What a good change from the other ridiculous priced ones with basic features.
interesting how it only lasts for 2-3 years, when they only came out in April of 2010.. and I remember that because I bought my HD digital speedo/analog tach right before they came out, then was like "damnit.".. so they can't fail at 3 years since they haven't been out for 3 years yet
Rock is correct in the statement that the exact tach number is hard to read but I think the tach is really a bit of a novelty anyway. I can tell roughly what the RPM reads which is all one really needs since we shift by engine sound anyway. As for the speedo, my experience differs from Rock's; I can tell within a couple of mphs what my speed is, however i will concede that since it is analog with lots of numbers; an exact read at a glance is difficult. I still prefer the look of this over any other one, of course that's just my preference.
I think they look cool but the tach is too small for me. I've been looking for the older analog style with the speedo on top and tach on bottom. Impossible to find.
