I just bought a 2013 vivid black Fatboy and I'm looking for some pipes. I like the looks of the Vance and Hines big radius 2 into 2 and the bigshots staggered. I also like the looks of the Samson Pamonas but I'm open to more suggestions. I'm new to HDForums so I'm sorry if this is a redundant post but I was hoping you guys or gals could help me out and fill me in on some pros and cons of any/all pipes you've seen, heard, or had on fatboys. (pictures would be very helpful) Thank alot. Looking forward to your replys.
Thanks for the replys. Oct1949, I know it's all personal choice, I just couldn't seem to find that many other pictures other than the same ones on samson or V&H's websites. Thanks alot for the links
I purchased a Fatboy 2 weeks ago and am also researching pipes. I put a set of loud shorty slip ons on my last bike, a Triumph, and found that after about an hour the noise became irritating. So this time around I'm looking for something more on the mellow side. I like the sound of the supertrapp supermegs, but don't like the look of the 2 into 1, nor do I want a full system.
Fatboy Phil, my suggestion is to consider if the loud pipes will become annoying on longer rides. Also, if anyone has a set of louder than stock mellow slip on pipes they like please let me know.
***EDIT***
By the the way, congrats on the new bike Phil!

One thing YOU can do before you replace anything is to remove (drill and punch) the catalytic convertors from the front of the mufflers. This increases the noise and improves throttle response. Then get a 1/4 by 18" long drill bit and drill a center hole in the disc plug in the rear of the mufflers. Add more holes around that one to increase the sound. I did mine 12000mi ago and still haven't replaced the exhaust yet. I got the sound pretty good and am scared of getting it too loud.

Hey Phil,
There's some great advise given already. I too changed my 2011 FBLo pipes and wrestled with options. My reason for changing pipes were #1, passengers were melting their right shoe on the upper exhaust. #2 was performance and sound. I went with the Rush Exhaust Complete system. I usually ride for 1 to 2 hour trips. These are louder than stock. I haven't been fatigued or bothered by the sound, but on a long trip one might be. Good luck (Go with what looks best to you). BTW , No more melted shoes!!
I just put some V & H slippons on mine. I like the way the factory headers look with the bottom pipe comes back up, but you don't have that bulky looking muffler. I think they sound pretty good to. You can always put Q series baffles in if you think they are too loud. BUT I also love the way big radius 2 into 2 look on a softtail. Decisions, decisions, decisions.
