My buddy finally picked his bike up. He had the shop that built the bike put on the bigger tires, different forks and some other minor changes. Man did it come out nice. Choppaheads in Mass, its 1968 triumph hardtail 650. 8
May as well do a full service chain clean and lube. You wouldnt believe the load of **** and crud that came out of that chain with a good gasoline soak!!! Let it dry and wiped it down for about 10 minutes and coated it with the fancy bel ray lube. Let that dry and it supposed to not fly off the chain and get everywhere. And while I was at it I tried the CBR1000RR wheel on for size. May switch to that wheel, but the 6 hundy wheel is fine for now. Maybe when it is new tire time.
And you can see I been splitin and haulin wood. Almost stocked up for the winter already.
Oooppppsss, my goddam CBR swingarm fell off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well not really. I bought that swinger for like 30 bucks because it was all rashed and dented. I found a rash / dent free arm on flea bay for 60 bucks and ordered it up. When that new arm comes in I am considering leaving it the grey finish rather than blackin it out. May look ok with the raw tank and rear fender. Will have to mock it up and see. Probably will black it though.
I figured while I was waiting I may as well screw around with spare parts. How about tube swinger from my CB on the monster....matches the frame a little better, would just have to figure out suspension!!
So I picked up a nice condition 600 swinger on fleabay for 60 bucks. The first 600 swinger I used was bought cheap and was beat to ****. I was just seeing if I could make it work on the softail and I ended up leaving on there. I bolted the new one on and used the CBR1000RR shock that I had laying around. It is a little different from the 600 shock in that the gas res sticks straight up rather than off to the side. Looks sorta corny but ok I guess. I left the swinger raw rather than blacking it out just see how it looked. I think it actually looks ok, sorta matches the tank and the open primary color. Ya, Ya, I gotta strip the stickers off it.
Opinions on the arm color?? Leave it raw?? Black it out??
Yeah,I am thinking I will finish out this year with this set up. If I change my mind, it's not a big job pulling off the rear end and blackin it out, but I am diggin the current color scheme.
