Question Shock removal question

Getting everything ready to remove the rear shocks on 06 Fat Boy to install the Shotgun I got from JD. Went over all the info in my manual to remove it and it stated I need part #SRES24 to do it. Anyone know what this part is? Can't find part on H.D. website. Whatever it is, do I even need it? Thanks...

I dont remember needing anything but a breaker bar to get mine off. The first time you take them off is a hell of a time. Other than that its pretty simple. I could be wrong I hope someone else chimes in on this just to make sure.

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=...adapter+sres24 Here's what it looks like. It's an adapter that allows you to use your torque wrench on the shock mounting bolts.

That tool is essentially a way to be able to torque the shock bolts. You can't really get a torque wrench in there to do it easily, so this tool basically extends the adjustment point down enough for you to get a torque wrench on it.

I did not use it when I did the shot gun on my 06. I do check to make sure they are tight a few times a season though. Get a heat gun or good hair dryer to help break those shoulder bolts loose. Pretty simple to do. Taping the hole for the compressor took the most time.

I got a 15 dollar torch from the hardware shop put it on the space between the shocks and the bolts came right out, I highly recommend this

I used Mapp gas to heat the bolts in order to get them to break loose.

That tool looks like a crows foot adapter. I found the best thing to use is a 3/4" wratchet wrench so it fits and you don't have to keep moving the wrench. I heated the flange bolts with a regular propane torch and they came out, took some force but it worked
