Default 2003 EFI FatBoy + SE 103B = Any Surprises?

My '03 FatBoy is the first EFI Harley I've owned, so I thought I'd throw this out there and see what your opinion might be.

Brief background; I recently purchased low mileage, mint condition 2003 FatBoy, and I love it... Plenty of power, runs perfect, no problems at all. Has a lot of extras, but as far as the engine everything is stock except for the normal "Stage 1", SERT, and dyno tune.

But being one that can never leave good enough alone, I've found a great deal on a new SE 103B engine (Black & Chrome PN 19293-06A), and I'm ready to pull the trigger and pick it up, unless there might be problems that I am not aware of....

What main areas of concern (if any) would I need to address if I replaced the stock engine with the SE 103B?

Of course I'd like to think it would be a simple procedure of just having the engine installed, and then letting a good tuner do his magic of setting it up, dyno tune, etc., but normally things are not as simple as you would like.

I'm not looking for every last ounce of horsepower, as 99.9% of my riding is just normal 'longer range cruising', so I would probably leave the 103B in stock condition and not go with replacement cams, etc...

Thanks in advance for any information you might be able to provide...

My 2005 Fat Boy SE came with the 103B engine. I have no complaints about it. It also came with the hydraulic operated clutch instead of the manual one. Do you know if the 88 and 103 use the same clutch plate setup? It might be something else you would have to upgrade.

That's a good point, and something I need to check....
