Default Progressive Drop in Kit

Im looking to lower my forks on my 2001 Fatboy and came across this drop in kit from Progressive. Looking for any kind of feedback good or bad. Iʻm Thinking of running a 18in rim and tire. Thanks

Hawaiian, I started a thread on this a few days ago. A lot of great feedback. I even called Progressive myself to find out how hard this job would be. The way they explained it to me was removing the front wheel, caliper and fender to drop the forks to do this job. But from what other riders have said was it is not a bad job at all. I have not done mine yet but when I do, I am going to try it without removing half the front end. LOL. Ths is just more complicated than what it actually is what I was told. Drop in my ***. Any way Bro, go back a few days and look up the thread I started. Some great tips on doing it. Good luck Bro. Post again when you do it and tell us how you managed to do it. Ride safe...

I have the full kit from Progressive, not the drop in. Mine required complete fork disassembly in order to add damper springs. The "drop in" kit is only drop in on a dyna. Softails will require the forks to be at least slid down through the tree enough to remove the cap and replace the springs. The cap you see on the top tree is just an oil fill cap. I would recommend removing the front wheel, fender, and caliper and then removing the forks from the bike. Only takes a little bit longer, and less chance of ruining something because you tried to half *** it. It's not a difficult job, just take your time and read the directions. Good luck!

Thanks for the info J. I've contemplated long enough on this and decided to do it the right way like you said. Thanks again...

The video is for Dyna's only. I wish Progressive would be specific on what models can use the drop-in kit. I am pretty sure we have to drop the forks. Please post when you have it completed and what route you chose on how you did it. Thanks...

It technically is a "drop in" kit on all models in that the fork tubes themselves don't need to be disassembled, just removed from the bike. In comparison to the full kit, which requires complete fork tear down to add damper springs which accomplish the drop, this kit is quite simple. Remove the forks, remove the caps, take out old springs, insert new springs, reinstall on bike. I installed the full kit on mine, and it is quite a bit more involved, not to mention additional parts like seals, caps, crush washers, bushings etc...
