Your height/seat/risers, I'd go w/ 14's. 12-13" if Carlini's.

If you go with Carlini's, 14's would probably be at shoulder height (16's if you go with other apes). I am 6' and have Carlini Flying Apes (16" but really 17.5") on a Luxe and 18" Wild Ones on a Heritage. The grips on both are probably 1"-2" above my shoulders. SJ Ron

I have to add that I'm 5'10" as well and on my Deluxe I have 1.5" risers and 16" Wild1 Chubbys and a Fat Boy seat. So, my set-up is slightly above my shoulders. I like where they are at and could probably live better with a set of 14's. The best way to tell is to sit on your bike and close your eyes. Then, reach out to where your arms reach to naturally. Open your eyes and measure from where your grips are now to where your natural grip ended up, do the math, and that should be the ideal position & bar height for you. Hope this helps!

The Carlini's only come in 18 16 13 - so to the OP you may want to go with the 13's if you are really worried about it or if the pOpO in the UK are tight asses. (I am 6 ft and dont own a Lux but wouldnt even care I would just get the 16's on the straight cool factor lol)

509 - get the 16's you look like a young guy and can deal with it if they are a bit tall haha

Not sure what the "rules" are in merry ol England.
But for any of you guys who might be thinking about something like this and live in NY State, I found something out last night that you should be aware of before you start.

While looking for regulations on lighting I found a NY State regulation that says hand grips on motorcycle handlebars can not be more than 15" above the seat.
So if you live in NY make sure your dont get bars too tall or you'll just be handing the cops a reason to stop and ticket you.

If you go with the Gangsters from Carlini they are true 16's. It's the flying apes that they make taller.

The rise on apes are measured from base to top of bar. Now where the gangsters are different is that at the point of the bend on top, they go straight out. A lot of bars bend back down and drop another inch.... so maybe the gangsters can be stated as running a little bit taller, but the rise is pretty accurate.

If you are going with Gangsters, I would recommend the 16's. If the flying apes I would definitely say to go with the shorter 14s to get the 16's. I went with 16 flying apes and damn...they were a lot bigger than my other 16's. They were taller and also straight out at the top, so it made a big difference.

Hope this helps.

I have been in the same boat and I have decided to go with the 14" Gangster apes, 1.5 inch's thick. If I want it taller I can adjust with risers.
