I bought mine from a local stealer brand new. They charged me $100 "to make sure everything is perfect". I rode it home - 15 mi and found oil spots on my pants. Front rocker cover was loose. Also the bike had a number of issues, including but not limited to practically flat front tire.
Now, it depends on how you look at it. One might say I got ripped off. But maybe I just got a real Harley?

I forgot to add that one of the rubber inserts in one of the foot pegs dissapperared as well. Ah well, get it out of the way.

Not to be a dick here either, but the only real difference between 20 (more like 30-40) years ago and now is that back then people didn't come on an Internet forum and whine to everybody about their Harley being broke. They just picked up a wrench, fixed it and rode until the next leak sprung. No bitching, no trashing the MoCo, no law suits...seriously.

If we had pics of everyone's hands you would understand why...

I usually check for loose bolts and such when I am cleaning the bike about once a week, depending on how much I ride it every week (which of course , I ride it as much as I can).

My 79 shovel has a fork bag that is full of tools and leaks..... Lets just say I wouldn't want to ride in a nice pair of jeans. I won't leave home without making sure that I've got tools for anything small that I might be able to fix. Granted I need to start replacing some seals on it as it has been awhile, but I enjoy riding it. When it comes to bolts falling off, the vibration of that old shovel can be brutal. Its like riding a log wagon, but I wouldn't change it. Some people frown upon the AMF years, but I'm actually pretty thankful for AMF.

Now my 08 Train that I had only had two small leaks and one was a fork seal that I had trouble with during my fork install and never got around to changing out again. The other was a small amount of oil from the oil tank. Easy fix. Just have to maintain them.

My 12 Lux has been problem free.

Wow, it is almost incomprehensible to me that some one would have issues with a used motorcycle actually needing maintenance. Where does this mindset come from? By the way, your bike is spelled....Deuce. Might want to get that straight before you take it into the Dealership to get that bolt put back on.

You would think after 30 years HD could actually make a motorcycle that doesn't require a wrench and a case of beer and a sore back to own it.

Not trying to be a dick either but my 2012 RK has kept the Harley legend of loose bolts alive.
