Carburetor Tuning with New Slip Ons
I just replace my stock pipes (baffles punched out) on my 2001 fatboy with Python dual staggered slip ons. I took it for a spin, pulled the plugs and they looked a little white. Dealer says I only need to up the pilot jet from 45 to 48. I did not change the air intake. Any recommendations? I attached a picture of my plugs.
If it doesn't pop on deceleration, I would probably leave it alone. If it does pop, I would go to the 48. On my 99 Softail Custom with drag pipes I can change jets with the carb on the bike. Ten minute job. Jets are less than $5.00 if I remember right.

He has said that 2 - 2 1/2 turns and a sportster needle he did not recommend the need for larger slow speed jet. That said on my05 flht I have k and n style AC, cam and VandH ovals 2 1/2 turns 48 slow speed factory main and the sportster needle. Did not do it all at once, plugs are nice and tan bike runs cool and gets 39mpg around town 42 on hwy. Take your time don't worry so much about the WOT your prob good. It's the off throttle keep checking the plug and make only one change at a time.
