I'm totally on the same page as you with this. I am bummed it happened, but happy that generally speaking I came away ahead by not being in a chair, missing a limb, or 6' under. I liked my bike, but it's not like I couldn't get another one if this one's finished. Comprehensive insurance coverage is a nice thing to have.

Motorcyle accidents are no different than buss accidents or aircraft accidents...they happen, but because they don't happen often they draw more attention...so the ER staff tell stories about "murdercycles".

What you DON'T hear about is the thousands if not hundreds of thousands of riders who did NOT have an accident today...I pointed that out once to an ER doc when a local rider went down and it kinda shut them up

I didn't care so much that they made the comments, as I've had other doctors tell me that in the past, when I wasn't sitting in a bed all banged up, what pissed me off was that they made them with my wife sitting there already a wreck from getting a call and coming into the ER to find me strapped to a spine board. She was already torn up enough with the thoughts of what might have happened if it was worse and she would be stuck raising a 3 month old without me, she didn't need to hear all that other stuff.

Glad you survived.
I've been there done that, Twice, first time in a coma and died on the operating table and the second time I was awake the whole time.
The second time came away just all beat up and the bike got the worse of it and I hear it all the time from the family members "When are you going to quit riding" and I tell them "NEVER".

Just relax and heal and, like it was pointed out earlier, now you get the time to research all of the mods you want your bike to have it become "YOURS"

Best wishes and prayers to you and the family.

Man...this stuff always freaks me out. The unknown stuff that takes you down. Thank God above you are all right! I hope the bike is fixable. If not, they're out there for sale!

Heal and rest up!

Dang, your title is a little misleading.

Glad you're alright and hope for a speedy recovery.

Did a similar thing to my Bones 2 weeks ago and waiting for the appraiser too. Like everyone has stated above you're lucky to have the damage you have and not worse. I also wanted to say I hope everything turns out ok with your bike. Keep us updated on how your recovery and the bikes recovery goes
