Apparently in the US, this helmet's marketed as the Rocket-Prime. Other than a few minor graphics differences it's the same helmet though.

So glad you are okay. In my line of work I've seen too many that have ended horribly. I've totaled cars I really enjoyed (someone just totaled my Ford Lightning pickup last April), and when it's all said and done, you realize it's only metal and plastic. Bones and tissue and organs are MUCH more difficult to make right and replace :-)

Say and prayer and thank the Lord you are okay. Heal up, and start riding again!

I've had a couple of major crashes in my riding career. Both times I had much the same conversation with dealer staff, and both times the insurance adjuster totalled the bike. Perhaps the adjuster is more often than not inclined to defer to the dealer assessment(?)

BTW -- glad you're OK, enjoy the shopping for new ride.

Thanks. Service manager called me this morning, he's trying to source a bunch of my aftermarket parts to figure out how much to quote for replacement. I guess HeartlandUSA, Martin Bros. and a few other companies aren't too popular up in Canada, as he'd never heard of them.

I can't find anywhere selling the same Martin Bros. pipes I have on my ride, I must have gotten them on closeout from American Classic Motors, because I got them for about $450 if I recall correctly, the only Martin Bros. pipes I can find anywhere now are going for between $750 and $900...and there aren't a ton of those either. At least if they do decide to fix it I'll likely be getting some more expensive pipes out of the deal.

Insurance rep emailed me this morning to let me know that they are writing the bike off as a total loss. My file's getting passed on to a different adjustor to figure out a settlement amount. Based on what I'm seeing online for used bikes they don't seem to depreciate all that much, especially over only 2 years since I bought it. I'm hoping to get within $1000-$1500 below MSRP, but we'll see what happens.

Well, I talked to the insurance agent this evening, looks like they are willing to give me about $700 less than the value I had it insured for, plus what the tax would be if I were to buy a new bike for that much. Also, I asked her if they cared if I had the dealership swap out some of my aftermarket parts for OEM parts and she said to go ahead, so I'll be able to keep my grips, pegs, brake pedals, shifter pegs, floorboards, and jockey shifter kit. I'm debating whether or not it's worth it for me to pull off my baggertail, but it's possible it got bent to hell when the bike went down, so it may not even be worth the time to get it removed.

Clubhouse leader for a new bike is a green '13 Deluxe, but I may shop around the used market for a bit before I spend additional money above what the insurance settlement would be.

1) Very sorry about the accident, glad you are still with us and riding again.

2) Love the green, and because the 'Hard Candy Custom' stuff is a part of the Dark Custom line, it may be of note to point out that the Dark Custom line has had a pretty high turn over rate as far as models and paint.

For example, my 1200N was only made in the red/black paint scheme for ONE model year, the model itself was only sold from '08-'12. Other bikes in the line have had similarly short runs, like the Night Rod, your XBones, and the Rocker C. I would guess that the X-mas colors only last for 2-3 model years at most given this precedent.

3) I always wear a full-face helmet, an Icon Alliance model which matches my bike. You may want a matte black model instead, they have a large variety in some really sick paint schemes. http://www.rideicon.com/products/?categoryId=993 Icon products are top notch, especially their higher end '1000' line-up. http://www.icon1000.com/collection/

Good luck, see you on the road.
