Default HD Service Bulletin question

An HD service bulletin regarding fuel injectors says it's applicable to "only 2006 1450 Big Twin model motorcycles that exhibit cold start and/or driveability problems directly related to use of 8" angle cone spray fuel injectors ..."

I'm having the problems described exactly and I have an '06 1450 Big Twin ('06 Heritage FLST/I). But when I called the HD dealer today, he said that service bulletin only applied to touring bikes. I have the service bulletin and it says NOTHING about "only touring bikes."

I know some people here have had the problem. Anybody with a softail know anything about this? I ain't trying to get something for free, but if this is a defect my dealer -- where I bought the bike -- should fix, I sure would like to know...

Haven't had that particular issue, but my advice is to bring the bulletin to the dealer and talk to the service manager directly, in person. Most times you'll get much better service than on the phone. Had the same issue with another bulletin on the phone, went in to the stealer and worked with the tech and pointed out exactly what I was reading. Even went behind the counter and helped him decipher the info on his computer. Bottom line, face time is worth a lot. It shouldn't be that way, but IMO, when you're on the phone you will almost always get poor(er) service.

I think you can see the numbers printed on the injectors to see if they are the updated ones without taking them out.

Due to changes in the manufacturing process, the part number
of the 25
° angle cone spray fuel injector is changing from
27709-06 to 27709-06A. This fuel injector also will be

stamped with the words “25 DEG” for easy identification.

Hey Bro, it is true. Back when I bought my 06 Fat Boy, only a few months later the bike started running like ****. I called the stealership and they told me to bring it there while it was still under warranty. They knew back then about the service bulletin. They knew exactly what the problem was. They changed my fuel injectors from 8 deg. to the 25 deg. which is the right ones. By bike never ran so good after that. Never had another problem with it. Your dealer should know this or if he doesn't, he can make one phone call to the Headquarters. And also, you can too if your not satisfied with your dealer. Bro, don't let them get away with it. Good luck...
