damn rear exhaust completely broke on me yesterday or today. Noticed it sounding a little off yesterday at the end of my ride when slowing down, but it sounded normal at idle so i thought it was my ears playing tricks on me. Fired her up this morning to leave and got 1 block from the house before i decided that it wasnt' my ears tricking me. Took her home and took the truck to work instead. Got home and started checking things out, noticed the rear pipe had some wiggle to it. Took it off and then i saw it. Broken all the way around, only thing holding it together was the wrapping. Guess its gonna force the issue of getting the new pipes i've been eyeballing. To top that off, the ol' lady broke her glasses today and both the trucks are waiting for new alternators.
only thing that held them together was the exhaust wrap. Don't even know how the pipe got so bent. It never hit the ground while it was off for anything

Reason: extra writin
no worries, like i said it's just forcing me to get off the fence about getting new pipes. Those pipes have been wrapped for the last 5 years, and i ride damn near every day, rain or shine. It was only a matter of time before the it happened i guess.
did you wrap the pipes with the shields in place ? i was thinking of wrapping my pipes and then installing the shields back over the wrap but someone here advised me against doing that for this possible effect. something about excessive heat getting trapped and actually fatiguing the metal.
i did wrap the pipes with shields in place, i was running 1 3/4" drags and they seemed out of place due to the size so I had my stock heat shields on the headers. I am either going with a set of Bassani Pro street turnouts, or a 2 in 1 turnout set from Cycleshack. Haven't quite decided which set to go with though. I hate to get a set of pipes that I havn't heard run. The Bassani set sounds good on youtube at least
I don't know if it caused your problem or not but I heard wrapping pipes can make them brittle. I wrap mine but I don't buy big money pipes in case it's true.
