I think it looks fine, just like any buddy seat on an original rigid or duo-glide. Does the rear hit the fender when you ride? Could someone of smaller stature than you ride a passenger 2 up on that?

Looking at the pics again it actually looks like a duo-glide police bike. Since your springer has a pre-48 rigid look I think an early rigid style buddy seat with the lower profile foam and curved profile would look more authentic than the thick foam flat profile buddy seat of the 70s like you have. Although your seat will be more comfortable, either would allow you to slide back for more room.

It does have a post (see pic). I put that on several years ago. I ran a Xbones seat for awhile but didn't care that much for it, then went to a -25 H-D tractor seat which was better but still didn't give me the range I wanted. Think I'm gonna be happy with this one though.

I had that same seat on a 70 Electra glide. Ugly as hell but more comfortable then most! I would also look into getting my floor boards out and forward some on your bike, that would HAVE to help you too!
LOL!! I have the Floorboard extenders, one of the first things I did to it.

Did a little research and found out this is the seat that came on the 1976 Liberty Edition FL. I initially thought it was older than that.

Good for U for choosing comfort over looks on Ur seat.

Lot of others care more about looks and then gripe about how uncomfortable they are and can only ride for a couple hrs..

I've been about function over form for a long time now. The pic below is from back in the 80's when I towed a trailer around behind my 84 Evo Softail. Got a lot of **** from other guys but it was funny, when we'd hit a campground they would all be asking me if their OL's could change clothes in my 10'X13' tent or if they could use my camp stove to cook breakfast on.

I had a buddy seat like that on my 1942 "45". You have the advantage of shocks and springs on the seat. Those old hard tails needed that sprung seat. I had mine when I was in high school back in the 50's, and they are great for taking girls for rides on. You sit very close together. Been married to one of them for 53 years now. Once she climbed on that seat behind me I knew I didn't have a chance.

You got that right! You could feel the heat on the small of your back. The more you could make it vibrate, the hotter it got.
