Default Softail Wiring

Hey All... I thought I had this wiring deal figured out, but, further testing has me confused.

I built a special construction Harley, using some harley parts (Swingarm, Trans, Engine) and a ton of aftermarket parts (Yeah, re-inventing of the wheel so to speak). For the most part, this has been a smooth ride, but the one thing I made an error on was ordering my hand controls. I got them in last year, and the first thing I did was install them to the bars, pushing wires in and all that jazz. I do believe that was the most difficult part of the build.

Anyway,, I have a diagram from the main harness (pro-one for flat side tanks) and a diagram for the hand controls. Mind you, none of these are factory, but both say they are coded the same as factory.

The main harness given has a green wire from the flasher which is supposed to be spliced to the solid orange wire from each hand control. Neither hand control has a solid orange wire. The orange wire in the main harness is to be spliced with both orange/white wires to each control. This is the power wire for horn/signal. The left signal has a white/purple wire which is spliced with a solid purple wire to the main harness, and the right signal has a white/brown wire spliced to a brown wire in the main harness. Both the left and right hand control have two orange/white wires which are spliced together somewhere in the loom on both sides, and ran as one orange/white wire.

My guess, strictly a guess, is that I pull these wires back out of the bars, and on the turn signals, cut the orange/white wire that gives them power, and run them individually as green to the flasher module.

I noticed after I had it all wired the first time, that when I pressed either the left or right signal, the light on the dash would illuminate only for as long as I held the signal switch in, and it would go out once I released the switch, so my investigative self cut my looms and wraps and gave myself this mess, only to discover that the harness is designed for 91-95 harnesses... and the handcontrols, you guessed it, are for 96 and newer.

The easiest thing to do would be to get rid of these controls, and buy the pre 96 ones, which will be another expense. I would rather make these work. So if anyone can give me the advice, or point out something Im not looking at correctly (since I am totally not a wiring guy), I would greatly appreciate it.
