Hello all
I'm new to your Forum. I've read your threads before and figured I should join. Next step will be to decide which member upgrade to do.
Oct of '08 I spied a brand new '09 Softail Custom in Faribault MN and had to have it. Three weeks later, after selling my Sportster, the "Redball Jet" was
mine! Yeah its Red Hot Sunglow. Slapped an HD Tuner, Heavy Breather and V&H Straight Shots on it and was off and running. 24,000 miles on it now. ALL IS GOOD EXCEPT: Starting it when its hot, it spits or coughs back through the intake. Sometimes takes a few tries to get it started. Any Ideas?

Welcome to the forums... be sure to post up some pictures of your bike for the rest of us to oogle over. if you need any help doing that, just say so.
Maybe the tuner isn't programmed correctly.. have you tried pulling your spark plugs to see what color they are? black means they're too rich and you have too much fuel going in to the engine, white means not enough.. i'd start by looking there.

What HD tuner did you slap on it? What MAP are you running. Did you have it dyno'd?
The tuner was the only HD avail at the time (i think) for the FXSTC. Yes it was mapped and dyno'd but its been 4 years. Time for a tune up, mapping and dyno w/adjustment I guess. Just hoping its not a valve seat or sumthin.

Hows the fuel economy. How do your plugs look. 20k is the service interval for a fuel filter, has that been done. Does it sound like an exhaust leak?

Mine does this as well. It always starts the second time though. For me it is trying to start the bike before the fuel injection is done priming.
