so it seems you can use older pipes on 2012 and up bikes with a reducer but is there a way to use 2012 and up pipes on 2011 and down bikes short of welding in different bungs?

No.
'11 and older is 18mm bung
'12 and newer is 12mm bung
This is a bung

You cannot stick an 18mm peg in a 12mm hole.

Depending on the wall thickness of the 12mm bung, you may be able to drill and tap it for an 18mm O2 sensor. Would sure beat having to remove the 12mm and welding in an 18mm bung.

thats kinda what i was thinking too.
does the ecm notice the difference between the 2? i guess what i am asking is why cant we just swap a 12 for an 18 and vice verse to match the pipes, i know they are not hardwired into the ecm but rather plug and play....i assume (perhaps incorrectly) they give different readings?

To be honest, I have never even looked. You could look under your car as they all use 18mm sensors as well.

Default O2 sensor adaptors from drag specialties

Instead of welding anything drag specialties offers an o2 adaptor to bring it from a 18mm tO 12mm. I have them in stock ready to ship. Give me a call at 410-451-5181 or visit www.easternperformance.com

So you have an adapter than will fit in a 12mm o2 sensor bung and allow the user of an 18mm o2 sensor?

lol sure he does and it is called a new exhaust, you can reach him at 1-800....
sorry i couldnt help it :-)

to the op i do apologize if some of us asshats have hijacked your thread...guilty.... it was not my intention, i just kinda got a little excited about the possibility of using newer exhaust on older bikes without welding (drilling and tapping would be cool).

It's cool. My question was answered before the hijacking took place. Everything from that point is extra information which is usually a good thing
