Help please
I have been shopping for pipes, I like the vance and hines short shots but now am getting that they are bad for performance. I have a revtech 110 motor with a mikuni carb and dual 3ohm dynacoils. Performance is important to me, anyone sugest pipes similiar to shortshots with better performance? i like loud but need fast too
Welcome to the Forum from Centennial!
My opinion is that Short Shots or similar will not work for you. For what you are running and requiring, a D&D FatCat or other 2-1 exhaust is your best bet. They can be plenty loud while giving you the performance you need. JMHO.

Bassani Road Rage 2-1 is another alternative. They are NOT to loud and have that nice DEEP rumble and will give you the performance you require. They have both a short and long pipe, we have the long on our '12 FLSTC.

Did someone say 2-1? Styling also counts for something. Some pipes just don't look good on particular bikes or with some accessories. If you posted a pic, I can't see it. If you didn't, you'll find you get a lot more responses and better advice if we know what kind of bike this is.
If you are looking for overall power then the 2-1 would be the best way to go. A 2-1 pipe is going to give you more low to mid range but overall power will be greater as well. If you are going for aesthetics a 2-2 will probably look better. If you are not building a race bike I would stick to what YOU like! Once you get the fuel and air correct you will get better throttle response and the bike will run cooler anyway! Hope this was helpful.

You might take a look at Drago's exhaust...

I would also recommend Thunderheader or RB Racing. RB Racing makes an excellent pipe, but they are expensive and patience is key...

A lot of recommendations for 2-1's. Yes they are a better performance design but I Hate the look of them. You have a beefy engine. I think a good set of 2-2's can be tweaked to perform.
Example: I once ran a set of VH Big Shot Staggered on my Train. Got bored and cut of the ends of the pipes to resemble Short Shots. Later swapped them out for Bassani's and sold them to a buddy. He mounted them (with BCT Baffles) on a 2000 Carb'ed replacing very long 2-2's. The short VH's with the cross over chamber was a huge power improvement over his previous pipes. Nothing is Black and White!

The only problem with thunderheader is that they DO NOT have a warranty. That is why I prefer the D&D fat cat because it is a great performing pipe and they stand behind every pipe they offer.
