I was looking at the Fatcat for my 2013 Fatboy low. I spoke with D&D and they recommended going with the Lowcat which is the upswept design to help with ground clearance. I was leaning toward the Fatcat but after talking with them, I'm a little nervous and don't want to worry about scraping up an expensive exhaust system.
Can some of you that have either the Fatcat or Lowcat setup on a Fatboy Low give me your thoughts? Thanks
I had a fatcat on my fatboy for a while. It did scrape on tight turns so if you are concerned about scraping go with the low cat. Remember that the Lo is 1" lowered from the factory as well. D&D is just letting you know all the possible issues prior to purchase which is good.
I have a FB Lo with a fat cat and only once and a while i scrape it. but mine is black and it scrapes underneath so i don't really mind all that much. it really just boils down to if you want an upsweep look or not.
It's not just tight turns, I scraped mine all the time and I ride like a grandma. Bike is lowered about an inch. But like others have said, it's on the bottom and you don't see it. Matter of opinion on looks, but I prefer the Fat Cat over the Low Cat.
I neglected to say that I have a Shotgun Shock on my ride and rode with it pretty much as high as it would go when I had this pipe to attempt to keep it from scraping.
I scrape all the time on my dropped heritage but you can't even see it, the scrapes are on the bottom of the pipe so the only way you would even know is if you take the pipe off the bike!!! The Fat Cat low just doesn't look the same and I even heard it sounds different!! Don't let the scraping scare you away, you'll love the Fatty so JUST GO FOR IT!!!
