Aluminum will oxidize. Sheet metal rusts! Unprimed clear to bare metal requires extra care. 2012+ all are water-bourne paints. They suck. I've owned a detail shop for 30 yrs. and just thought I'd give the OP a tip that if it gets a chip, it better be touched up quick but yes, clear is clear I guess!
A 3M clear bra(paint protection film) might be a good idea.
