Fat Boy Solid Wheels
I have a 2004 with solid wheels. I'm thinking about changing them to fat spoke wheels. Just wondering how many of you have changed the wheels or stayed with the stock wheels - your thoughts.
Changed mine to Harley Blades.......like them alot.
I changed the front because I like a more open wheel. I may or probably am full of crap but I think the crosswinds play havac on handling with the solid wheel. I've mostly owned dressers both electra glide and Road Glide and think even with all the extra frontage area they delt with wind better than my Fatboy Lo, especially the Road Glide. With the new Performance Machine 18" 5 spoke wheel on the front I think it does handle better in the wind. I do have a front wheel shake with no hands on the bars at mid speed but had it with the stock setup to.
running the orig wheels on my 07 FB. i just got them back from a shop who polished the orig polished sections, (outer ring and hub) to a dam near chrome look along with having them powdercoated clear. no more wasting time polishing wheels.

I desperately want Wide White Walls on my Fat Boy, but no matter how hard I tried I just couldn't see them working on the stock bomber style disc wheels that come on Fat Boys. I even have the chrome version on my bike. I finally made the decision to buy spoke wheels and went with the Factory H-D chrome 80 spoke wheels. I thought long and hard about the DNA/HogPro/Ride Wright Fat Spoke option, but I just couldn't do it. Every where I looked I saw Fat Spoke, radial laced wheels on every single Softail. I do think they look good, but I just wanted something different. I found a vendor that had MOCO 80 Spokes for $350 a piece delivered and bought them. Honestly, you will never go wrong with fat spoke wheels, but just don't get caught up in the hype. There are plenty of other options. HogPro alone (a forum vendor I might add) has a ton of options worth looking at. But for me, its either spokes or the stock bomber disc's on my Fat Boy. I ran the fat spokes on my Dyna and loved them. All I need now is for my current tires to wear the hell out so I can put the new ones on!!! My wife is pretty tired of these sitting in the family room.
Just wanted to share another option.
