I'm wanting to convert my Nightrain into a Deluxe. I haven't had a good look @ the deluxes but would I need a fatboy front end for the headlight set up to fit?
I have been slowly doing this to the 2004 Night Train that I picked up in August... I used a Fatboy rear fender with the extra wide tombstone tail light from J&P Cycles (3400640) and laydown license plate bracket (3400060). Currently I have mounted a Heritage style front fender (39-7038) from Dennis Kirk. An adjustable lowering kit for the rear - Ebay (cheap bolts until I can afford the Shotgun setup).. A progressive lowering kit for the front (H58672) from Dennis Kirk. All of this paired up with some Samson 33" mini cholos (removable baffles and tips - S-470) makes for a pretty awesome setup so far.
I think that the trees are different for the Fatboy style front end, not to mention the lower legs are different than the Wide Glide style front end that comes on the Night Train. I'm not exactly sure as I have not done a whole lot of research on the front end yet. My plan is to have a 'Nightmare Deluxe' when I am done.
I look forward to looking at more replies on this subject!
Kizzle, your train looks good. I like the Fatboy rear fender but I want something a little lower and that flares out a bit more at the bottom. I'd also like a front fender that's more squared off on the top with a flare at the bottom. Yours is a bit rounded with the tire but looks good on your bike. Where would I get the extra chrome bolt-ons for the fenders that the Deluxe's have? I'm assuming i'd have to buy Deluxe fender accessories but worried they wouldn't fit. I'm also not sure what to with the headlight set up to mimic the Deluxe's
I have my 07 Night Train almost finished. The SS goes on this next week and front fender is at the painters now. Bags are in the shop waiting for me to have time to do it.
I just swapped out my Night Train for a Heritage. Thought it would be cheaper than converting it and now there is still a good clean Train at the dealer now for the next guy who wants one.
