I am in the middle of making the switch. Traded in the SG which I loved for a Fatboy Lo. Wife has a CVO Softail Heritage. Every time I sit on her bike it just feels right. It came down too I prefer sitting in the bike than feeling like I am on top. Its all in personal preference.
I do not get the new one till next month but looking forward to it. I loved the test ride.
Went from flhrs road king custom the Harley I always dreamed of to a crossbones. The big touring bike was o.k., but the bones is something special. Put more miles in one winter than the previous summer in rkc. Will never own anything but Springer ever again. I just lost the passion and the bones brought it back. I had the windshield highway pegs engine work you name it 20k in that bike sold it for 9. Now apes swing arm bag and sissy bar roll that's it. No looking back!
I have an 07 Street Glide and picked up an 08 Crossbones, like someone else said two totally different rides. I like each one for different riding Glide on the long hauls love having the fairing...the Bones for short rides and general tooling around.
Hey Brett, why the 09 and newer? Because of the exhaust going underneath? Or is it more or something else entirely?
The 09 and later touring bikes had a complete makeover. New frame, wider back tire, upgraded engine mounts and stabilizer. I think last I remember, the frame alone had like 100 improvements. The later model touring bikes are an incredible improvement over the older bikes....
Well I guess I now know... Lol
I've never had an opportunity to ride any of the newer touring bikes. I'm dying to buy a Road Glide, as a second bike, you know spend $600 a month for the next 3 years of my life. I'm gonna be sick just thinking about it.
I had a deluxe and went to a 2009 classic. now dont get me wrong the bike is amazing running down the road.but for me to move the bike around or back it out was tough.I didnt feel secure with that bigger bike, so i went back to a deluxe. With all the detachable stuff for the deluxe and a touring seat i feel its the best bike for me for the money.
I went from a 1340 Evo Road King to a 2012 Deluxe. No regrets whatsoever. I'd forgotten the pleasure in throwing a Softie around! Plus more cubes and an extra gear!!
