Default Who here has come from a bagger?

I just sold my Roadglide to pay for some bills and was thinking to pick up a softail to still be able to get out on the open road. I have not owned a softaill since 2006. Have any of you recently come from a bagger to a softie and have had any regrets in doing so? I was thinking a fatboy lo or something...

Since my accident I can no longer hold up a bagger. Have test ridden a Heritage and a Deluxe. Going to be picking up one or the other in the next month or so.

Both the wife and I were pleasantly surprised how well the Heritage rode, both on the country roads and the interstate. If I get a Deluxe, will be changing the rear shocks for better ride.

I have had an 07 FXSTC since Aug of 06. Only a little over 8K on it as most of my long distance riding is on baggers.

I would never be without it. Great riding smooth and comfortable. I use it for day trips.

I had a 09 road king before the crossbones, told myself the softail was just as good a ride, hell I think I even said it on here...i was in denial...lol. That being said, it isn't that the softail is incapable, just different. I rode the crossbones on a 3200 mile round trip before I had the road glide. Now, I wouldn't take the crossbones on a trip like that unless I had no other option. I love my softail, but to compare it to a touring bike, especially an 09 or later, is really apples to oranges. Not bad, just different.

I went from a Road King to Heritage. The Road King had a good ride and was smoother than the Heritage out on the road. It was a little more stable on the interstate in traffic. My wife liked the ride of the RK better than the Heritage. That said I love the Heritage and the way it handles, the way I sit in the seat, the more forward controls. For me it is just more comfortable.

Hey Brett, why the 09 and newer? Because of the exhaust going underneath? Or is it more or something else entirely?

Hubby had a Fat Boy Lo, I had a Heritage. Traded both in for a Road Glide Ultra. BEAUTIFUL machine. Had it 5 months. Recently traded it for another Fat Boy Lo for him, a Softail Standard for me. Totally different bikes, but we feel like we are back to riding motorcycles, not riding on a sofa (and I realized I much prefer riding my own even over being a passenger on a luxury machine!). No offense intended to anyone. It all depends on what you want. And we will take our Softails wherever we would have taken the Road Glide. We've done it before, will do it again.
