Anybody know if the recall download intended to reduce drivetrain stress when the engine is lugging is a complete flash or just a low RPM patch?
Reason I'm asking, there are 2 versions, stock and opened up intake. I am (as soon as the garage warms up above freezing!) about to install a stage 1 intake kit and am hoping that the update will give me a free reflash.
The way the systems software is written its not possible to do a "patch" in the normal sense. That’s not to say you can’t change parts of the overall map, then reload it. But unfortunately you can’t just access the installed map and modify what’s in there. Its too bad you can’t because it would make things a lot easier.
In your case where you are basically looking for a “free†stage 1 download. I’m not sure, but my guess is that the chances of getting away with it are probably fairly good.
Thanks, that's just what I was hoping to hear. I'm sure the local dealer will just look at the installed intake and load the matching tables without checking to see if the stage 1 map had already been loaded before.
