I've been searching the site & googling but haven't really came up with anything solid.
Has anyone used GripAce but not install the switches in their grips? I was thinking of getting this but hiding the switches somehow. Is there an alternative to GripAce? With either option, can you post pics/how to?

Here is what you can do with the grip ace if you don't want to put in grip. If you use twist clutch you can't put in grip anyway.
You can put the switch pad anywhere you want or you can use micro switches. But only on pre 2011 bikes without the CANBUS wiring.
Grip ace will send you a machining diagram with the button pad. You can recess mount it anywhere you can machine the recess. I might still have my diagram laying around if you'd like me to post it up. Not so sure about surface mounting, the button pad is not enclosed on all sides, the bottom is exposed circuit board, so it might be ok in a hidden location.
I can say it's a great setup, one full season on mine and no hiccups or problems at all.
