Default Solo seat removal problem on a Deuce

I went to install a pigtail on a 2000 Deuce that I recently purchased.

It has an optional solo seat. I have removed many motorcycle seats in my life. But this sucker won't budge.

I checked search and found some threads on the two up seat with sissy bar but that was of no help.

I tried pulling back and up. Did not work. I tried pulling up without luck. I tried pushing forward and up. I pulled back hard enough that the bike just slid on the jiffy stand.

I am ready to try a crow bar next or dynamite.

Anyone with ideas?

The dumb HD solo seat in this picture.

When I was looking with a flashlight under the frame, I spotted a hidden pigtail. But I need to learn how to get the seat off. The next project is to do a tank lift.

My Buttcrack has two tabs on either side, right about in the middle. These tabs attach to the frame with some bolts. The stock seat was just held in with a tab in the front that slid under the tank and a thumbscrew in the back. That's the best of my recollection. Bike's in storage, otherwise I would post a pic. Once it's undone, it should come off easy. Good luck.

Like he said. Softail seats usually attach to the frame on the side with bolts. Look right above your oil tank. It looks like you have some chrome frame trim there too.

both of the above posters are correct, you need to remove the forward most bolt on your strut cover, then the seat will pop straight up. question for you thou, whats with the tank lift? i have heard others on here talk of it, but whats the point or difference?

Juice - it provides more air flow over the valve covers and aids in room to clean them. Many feel that it looks better. There was a recent thread on the Softail section about posting pictures of members Deuces. Many had lifted tanks and in my opinion they do look better.

And thanks all for the info. I will remove the front strut bolt and happily remove said seat.

Just in time also. I had located my Johnson bar and was ready to show that seat what for.
