understand....but CV is a DAMN good carb. Replacement to Mikuni is really not necessary, but the mikuni is a good carb as well.

The CV on my Sporty hot rod works PERFECT.

Sounds like you got it figured....the early softies were cool, and the new ones as well, just need a slim or deluxe to start with. A slim is VERY close to optimum, but the big whale of a front tire must go!

Your Deuce is a DAMN good bike....fine tune it to where you want it and ride the **** out of it...it's a HARLEY, it'll take it, and can be rebuilt.

Damn, I need a 1984 FXST with chain, 4-spd, and I can convert it to CV and a modern 530 chain.

On sporty....not an issue.....CV's are all Keihn.....just went with 1200 kit for the correct needle and jets....too damn easy.

I missed the kick starter by one year. The parts guy who was a cool smart ***...
Said when I mentioned too bad it didn't come with one, "You didn't go out and put a hand crank on your car did you?"

I'm telling you, 1984 was the year to get....pretty rare these days. basically a converted shovelhead in the "new" frame.

Last one i saw was in 1988, and DAMN did I want it! Army Sergeant bought it new, and was a real rider, and bought it knowing what it was. It was cherry! Oriental blue.

To me, the FXST and FXSTC scream classic Harley, makes no sense to me why they would axe it here in the US. Why would they only continue to make it overseas?
I don't know where they make them overseas, both the Standard and the Custom disappeared from the Dealerships in the UK a long time ago, as you say I don't know why, the Standard was an ideal cheapish bike for anyone who wanted to really customise, know a guy who made a great looking chopper out of one, probably the Rockers took their place in the lineups now their gone both bikes may come back.

I agree, the FXSTC or Softail Springer, Standard or Night Train are the best bikes ever produced by Harley.

The FXST was the moco's attempt at making a factory chopper.
21" front wheel.
I had the last year of the evo FXSTC which was a 99.
I never did like the skinny wheel and changed it to a 16" and put a fatboy front fender on it as the stock-er was not really a fender to me, more like a little piece of painted metal that didn't do much.

I thought saddlebags were handy too so I put a set of after market ones on.
I modified my softail, w hints of fatboy, and a heritage combined.

S&S Super E was a better carb too than was the CV.

It was dumped in favor of the ugly duckling/deuce in 2000.
Hence the name "deuce."

It was re-incarnated down the road again.

For those of you who want an FXST, there's plenty of them around.
Maybe in 20 or more years they might start to become a rare bird.

I believe they still sell the FXST in Australia. I know I have read they still sell them somewhere.
