I have a 95 Bad Boy and I have been looking to install a fuel gauge so I do not have to watch my trip meter. I have asked my local dealer but they are all young and were prob born after the bike was made, they are great with all of the new bikes but not so with the later models. Any help would be great and I am ok with it if there is nothing out there.
Interesting question. Since the tanks are separate and you can fill both, I'm not sure the style that is on the 2000 and newer will work. Hopefully someone has done it. I will say though that most of the newer ones are notoriously inaccurate.
Checking your mileage then using the trip meter is much more accurate. The guage on my '02 Heritage read FULL all the time. I fixed it and now the low fuel light comes on at 105 miles.
Ignoring the light and back to using the trip meter.
Your tanks have a fuel crossover line which equalizes the fuel level of both the left and right tanks. Your petcock and fuel filter combination have long and short inlet tubes. When the fuel level is below the long inlet tube you must switch the petcock to (Reserve) and draw fuel through the short inlet tube.
I have seen guys install a Sight Glass on the side of their tanks providing a visual fuel level. Looks pretty trick. I used to have a link bookmarked to one of these sight glasses. I'll look for it. Shoot me a PM.
