I recently purchased a set of 100th Anniversary hard leather saddlebags HD#92015-03 for my 2003 100th Anniversary Fat Boy FLSTF and thinking of purchasing the rear saddlebag guards HD#49261-00A. Are they compatible? The guards are relatively new but the bags are Circa 2003.
In additon, does anyone know any "custom" guards for those saddlebags or reccommend a nice set.
what are the hard leather bags originally intended to fit? a road king? steve
It looks like the 92015-03 bags fit the Fatboy with shotgun exhaust.. The bag guards 49261-00A look like their for a Heritage..?? I have a Springer Heritage and the bags are different than the reg heritage, the bag guards for the springer are different also.. I'm not sure if his numbers on bags and guards go hand in hand, (Match)..?? By the pics I saw it doesn't look like it does....?? Hope this helps....
Its my understanding that the saddlebag guards you listed wont work with the stock Fat Boy exhaust. They are for bikes with below the axle exhaust. Fat Boys of course have the higher shotgun style. I bought a set of Heritage chrome rear guards for my '05 Fat Boy hoping I could figure out a way to "make" them fit. I can't figure out a way. I really want rear guards to match my front bar (not pictured), so if some one has figured it out, or has a different part number, I would love to hear it as well. I thought there were some guards for a Deluxe that might fit a Fat Boy, but I just don't know.
edit: This is the part number for the Deluxe rear guards, 49360-08. The deluxe has the raised exhaust similar to the Fat Boy. It does not appear to be compatible, but if theres a set that "may" work, these would be the set.
as mentioned, the exhaust is the problem. im using the 49261-00A bars, with iron bags, and running a d&d fat cat. turn signals re-located to the rear fender like a heritage. fits like a glove and looks like factory installed. the springer bars are different...main diff is the diameter of the bars. same mount locations. i havent seen the deluxe bars, but the mounting points will be the same also. steve
