Default Engine Guard/Highway Bars

Anyone have any experience with these, either good or bad?

Looks like a nice setup

Interesting design by Kuryakyn. It does look like a nice setup. My only concern is that you cannot position the foot pegs where it's most comfortable for you. It's at the top of the highway bar and that's it.

The second review on 07/20/11 by butch (butch47us) from Milton, VT makes my point. It is (quoted):
"I purchased 1 of these engine guards thru CC .. guard looks sweet but as far as function its a dud... the swing out pegs are just to high and short unless you have 20 in. legs and even folded up you still cant use as a footrest for the same reason.. way to high ..I have a 29 in. leg and still feel like all jacked up riding . The only solution is to but off set pegs that bolt to the bar. "

If you get it, just make sure you can return it.

I love the marketing bullsh!t (also quoted): "...the Ergo Plus Engine Guard bolts directly to existing mounts on your frame and does not use any clumsy universal clamps. You'll be back on the road with your new engine guard and the comfort of multiple foot positions in no time!"

Clumsy universal clamps? Multiple foot positions? Even bikes without engine guards have multiple foot positions. On the handlebars, on the tanks, etc... The only thing it didn't say is "call in the next 10 minutes and we'll double the offer."

I prefer the ability to put the highway pegs where they work best for me.
As you can see, I have the highway pegs low on the engine guard.

I agree with bone_doc, why pay that much for something that's not really functional for you? I bought a jardine highway bar and installed the highway pegs to my most comfortable position! I too looked long and hard at that bar you are looking at, but for the cost I got my bar and pegs cheaper and had enough left over to get some grips and I still had money left! My

It is the HD front engine guard kit [49004-00A]. Here is a different view.

I went with the non-adjustable highway peg mounts, HD 50957-02B. The most difficult part of the install is getting the highway peg into the mount with the D clip. Otherwise it is a total of 7 bolts.

I have the Lindby Multibar on my Night Train. I like the look, it was super easy to install and the extra foot rest is very comfortable.
