Default Winter mods....back on, yea!!!

A few weeks back I posted a thread explaining that I am finally going to be a Grandpa but do to some serious issues with the baby I was going to cancel my winter mods so my cash will be free to help the kids if need be. Well, through a very rare set of circumstances I have had to work straight through the past 4 weeks and all of the Holidays. Do to all those hours this next check and all the worked holiday pay my 1st 2 week check should be right at 10k gross and the next check right around a 5k gross check. I am NOT bragging, only explaining to all those who commented on my winter's mod-less list and why I cancelled all my planed winter mods. I was still surprised at all the support and positive comments I got for my decision to cancel all my mods so that I could instead help the kids if need be. Some will say what good luck, others might say the good Lord works in mysterious ways!! I choose the ladder of the two. Maybe the big guy in the sky gave me a little reward for being unselfish. Now a question? I just read a thread from that pretty young lady with the pink bike that she can't stand the heat on the left side of her bike from the TD's she has on her bike. Is it that bad? I was just getting ready to order a set today!! I can't believe it's that bad with so many guys buying them, is it? I don't want to drop a grand on pipes that I am not going to be happy with and have them hanging on a nail in the garage because I can't take the heat from the pipe on the left side. All you guys with the TD's chime in please and thanks in advance for your time to reply.

Mine are fine. Hers were installed incorrectly or something because the left pipe sticks out way to far. I love the pipes and won't buy anything but sampson.

Not sure, but height might have had something to do with it, too.

Karma, man... Karma.. Good on you.

Thanks for the time you guys took to reply to my TD's questions. I couldn't believe it could be that bad with so many people running them on their bikes, I too expect it might be a height issue for her, I hope!. I think they look bad ***. It was my plan to put these on my bike when I bought it but my bike runs so well with this 2 into 1 Python I now have on and it seemed like so many people were getting these cholos, I didn't want to be "just another bike" carbon copied. I rode all this past summer, went to all the "biker bars", did a few runs and a few pig roasts and I have not seen 1 single bike in my area with the TD fishtale cholos on, not 1! I am sure they are out there but no where near as many as I thought I would see, not 1 single bike all summer did I see with these pipes. I also did not want to lose any performance on my bike but the way I have my motor built and the way I ride what little I might lose will be a none issue for me., or so I am told. Also "KARMA"? , I can call it that too but I would also like to think the big guy in the sky may have had a little to do with it too. I am grateful either way and I can't wait to see what she looks like when I roll it out of the garage come spring time. My plans are to pull a few more pieces off to be sent out for chrome, I Know, I'm a "Chrome *****". 39" cholos, just not sure if I am getting straights, baffled or pipes with the removable baffles. 16" 1.5" Carlini's, just not sure if it's going to be the Gangsters or the Flying apes, internal wiring with risers as short and as close to the tree as I can get them. White hand grips to match the paint scheme on my bike. I am also, lastly, going to get my front and rear seats re-worked taking about an inch off the top for a lower profile and have a gel insert put in it and to get it done in black and white to also match the paint scheme of my bike. If ANYTHING out of all of that that MIGHT not get done is going to be the seat and the reason for that is because I want to get another set of tins and paint the bike next winter. I already have another tank and I want a stock fender and have it stretched 4"'s next winter when I do paint too. I love my stock tins and I don't want to ruin them by having them painted and cut and stretch my stock rear fender. I also don't know if it's going to be this year or next but I am more and more interested in getting some new custom wheels for my bike too. I just have no idea what kind of wheels I want yet though. I guess I am leaning towards the 50 fat spoke wheels, at least that is my preference as of today. Who knows what I will get when the day and time comes to order them.

I say take your time look around see what you like whats new then go with your gut feeling. You can listen to every one and go crazy every one wants to think what they have is the best rightly so but in the end you have to please yourself. You do not want to be second guessing yourself. Make your own decisions take your time think it over do no be in a rush and in the end all will be well. There is new stuff coming out every day and even us guys who have loaded up on mods are tempted to make a change when something new comes out that is nice. Do not limit your self to what you see here on the forum if you look around a lot of us have done the same things nice looking bikes indeed but you have a chance to be a first good luck with what ever you decide as long as your happy

Tony, there are no coincidences in God's world. I'm no Bible thumper, just someone who has learned from experience. If what you want to do with your ride looks half as good as it does now, it'll still be one of the sweetest rides in here.

I agree with everything you said nikonf8, 100%. I have been looking for a year now waiting for this winter to get here to get the ball rolling. I do in fact have all winter though and I am in no rush what so ever. I will not make a single purchase until I am 100% sure it's what I want and not what others want me to get or thinks I should get. Also your bike looks really sweet too!

Thanks machinistsmate, I am really happy with how my bike looks and rides as it is right now. I have always had this picture in my head of what the perfect bike is for me, no one else. I do get bored easily sometimes though and look to change things up now and then and they DO NOT have to be big ticket items either. The best comments I get are from people who looks at my bike and see's how "uncomplicated" it is. It has very nice lines and flows really well, at least for me anyway. I don't like any one thing taking away from the over all look of the bike. I like a bike that looks clean and simple yet the more you look at it the more you see or find.

I kinda think my true duals stick out a little to far than the are supposed to, but at that point of the install I was super frustrated and said **** it and went with it. Looks good and is sealed so that's all I care bout.

That being said I notice reduced heat in the right leg area as compared to stock and can actually put that foot down with out it getting scorched. The left leg has felt a slight increase in heat but it is negligible at best, and I am short legged at 30" inseam on a good day so you should have no issues.

Gotta love the big checks like that, didnt hit 10k last year but when storms rolled through I had some nice 8-9k checks come in. Taxe are a bitch though but you still get a nice take home to buy some new toys.

Hey red mosquito let me ask you a question but it might be personal so you don't have to answer it if you don't want too, it's cool. With a 9k check how much of that did you bring home? This will be the largest check I have ever gotten out of them so I don't know what to expect. I guess it could be apples and oranges though because your deductions, benefits package and what I have taken out for my 401k may be totally different then what you have. I was just wondering a ball park figure. As soon as I get a bit of energy here I am going to run my bike down to the shop before I go into work tonight to start having pieces pulled off to be sent out for chrome. All the other mods are on hold until I figure out just exactly what it is I want, example, what kind of Samsons and what kind of apes. I am excited about getting these mods done but I am in no hurry, I have all winter. As for the heat coming off of the pipes? I guess I am just going to find out for myself because I do want them. I am not much taller, 32" inseam but I just can't imagine it being that bad with all that are being sold and installed. Either way, hot or not, I am going to go with them as I think they do look bad *** especially with the Shotgun on back. I always LOVE pictures from you guys that already has them.
