I just put on some new grips and levers on my '12 Blackline. Prior to doing so I could start my bike in gear and now I have to be in neutral. I read another thread a while ago that said there was a sensor somewhere near the clutch cable when you are adjusting it but I cant find it now. Did I screw something up or did I accidentally fix a problem?
There's a sensor in where the lever goes. Either you pinched a wire when putting the control back on, or you bent the sensor push-in when you put on the lever.
Take off the lever and see if the sensor is still in place. That's probably what happened.
There is a switch installed in the housing behind your lever. It's called the Clutch Interlock Switch. When you pull and hold the lever in, it depresses the switch and you may start the bike in gear. It's very common for those not aware that it's there, to break the switch or to pinch the wires when reassembling the switch housing, while doing a grip change. I broke my switch and was throwing error code B1154 (Clutch Switch Input Short to Ground). Other than not being able to start in gear and the error code, no big deal. If it is the switch, they are over $60 at the dealer if you do the install. I did mine. It's a special switch so finding a form/fit replacement might be difficult. If it's the wire, you're going to have to get in there and have a good look at them, cut out the offending area , re-solder and heat shrink.

Thanks, It was the switch. The lever just wasnt hitting the button. A little JB weld to make a nipple on the lever worked just fine.
