Default Deluxe tour pak??

Ok boys. I need some advice here before I spend too much $ and the old man gets pissed. I have an 07 deluxe and the man has 10 flhp. We are going to be doing some touring this summer and after doing a couple long trips on my deluxe last year I am thinking about a detachable tour pack. I already have the docking hardware so I'm guessing a tourpack on my bike will be cheaper than putting one on the flhp. His bike still has the radio plate/luggage rack so to put one on his bike we are going to have to remove the plate and put docking hardware on, etc. We only take a couple of trips a year so I am not looking to spend a fortune on something I don't plan on using too many times. Any advice, great deals, etc. would be a great help.
Thanks guys!
Dawn

I seen some really good looking Luxs with Hard bags and Tour pacs, they are a lot of $$$ for just that couple of trips a Yr.

On the couple longer trips I take each Yr on our Heritage I ended up going with the HD Overnighter bag that mounts to the rear rack with straps that comes with it, Plus (I use solid rubber straps) at the rear for even better tie down.
It also has 3 diff size Pockets on the front, that slide over Ur Sissy bar pad so one should fit most any HD Sissy bar pad.
Really solid while riding.

Gives me plenty of Extra room (1900 ci's) and comes off the bike in a few secs to take into the Hotel room at night. I keep all the important stuff in it so I don't have to worry someone stealing or breaking into it.

It also has its own water resistance attached cover that has reflective piping for better night vision. For me it works great and won't brake the bank. Also it has pockets on each end for the quick access stuff and a nice soft folder type bag thats in the main part of the bag for important papers.

I've got a stackable bag that I use now but since my saddlebags r so small, I just feel the need for more room. I figured I'd have the bf load the stackable bags and use something more substantial on mine. Either that or I'm going to need different bags that i can put something more than a sandwich bag in.

Since I already had the quick detach stuff like you, for my sissy bar, I bought the MOCO factory quick detach tour pack mount. They are about $200 new from many dealers, and snap right on those mounts. Then you can pretty much pick any tour pack you like and bolt it right to the rack. I had a custom tour pack made to match my saddle bag's but Harley makes a correct tour pack if you want one. But its almost six hundred dollars. You can also get a host of aftermarket tour packs from vendors on ebay that will bolt right to the MOCO rack. The aftermarket packs run well under 200 dollars delivered and many come pre painted in a variety of colors. Making the total investment under 400 bucks.

I have King size tour pak that I have used for a few long trips. You can fit a ton of stuff, coupled with the saddlebags.

One word of caution. It gets heavy, and situated in the back of the back can make for a different ride.

if you plan on more stuff than you can currently carry you either have to much stuff or you need larger bags. You want to carry as much weight as possible low and to the side of your bike not high and behind. This is for a better center of gravity. Tour Packs are really for the bikes already fitted with all the touring gear since they have gobs of crap already as low as possible offsetting the tour back being that high. For safety, ease of riding, and IMO looks go for larger bags.

Wife carries a Tour pack (two up detachable) on her deluxe and has no problems with the weight or location. A must have for logging miles.

I have a simple "day" bag that I keep on typically all the time. It's big enough to hold a half helmet or a 15 pack of 16 oz. Miller light cans.

For trips I take the "day" bag off and put on a Saddlemen S3200 that I got off e-bay for $180. For you though since you are riding solo, you can place the S3200 backwards and use it as a backrest.

Just my opinion.
