This may be a stupid thought, but you never know unless you ask.

Is it at all possible his headlight works and nothing else because when the battery is dead/almost dead it just pulls to the light so that if you are somewhere in the dark and it happens you at least have some "light to work with"?

(like I said - that may be a completely stupid thought - but when it comes to anything electric or electric related or electric inbred lol I am an clueless)

Headlight is a pretty good indicator of a weak battery/bad connection but what gets me is he isnt getting a solenoid click.

Think I got it figured out guys...

I think it was just a blown fuse....in fact, it was my battery fuse. Last night when I pulled the battery to take it to get it load tested, I noticed the positive was pretty tight but the negative not so much. In fact, I think I could have unscrewed it by hand. I do remember when I hooked the batter back up last time that I had a hard time screwing the negative back in because it was hard to get to. I didn't realized I could have hooked the battery up on the top terminal, then I could have tightened it down good.

So my guess is the negative cable wasn't tight and caused it to blow a fuse. Went to the dealer and got 5 fuses (just in case I blow another one any time soon).

They also tested the battery and it was good. But I am still thinking about ordering the Odyssey battery because of it being shorter and things won't be as tight under the seat.

Well, I HOPE that's it anyway. lol

It sounds like it would be though... if the battery fuse is blown, that would make sense that maybe the starter would get no juice and the blinkers wouldn't work... right? Maybe it killed power to my handlebar switches? (although when I turned on the run switch, it did turn on because I heard the fuel pump turn on.

Electricity can be strange. Just button everything up and give it a try and if that dont work we can go from there.

Last time my battery died it did not click, but the lights were on and did not dim when I tried to start it. It was the original battery some 8 yrs old iirc. I checked around for prices and found the Interstate battery was cheaper than the MoCo battery at the dealer. Took the old batt. in and they load tested it and yes it was bad.

Whenever you are having starting issues like you mentioned the first thing to check are all your battery connections including the ground stud to ground the frame. It should be located at the other end of the ground cable coming off the battery.

I was able to find that I blew a battery fuse.

The dealer tested the battery but they didn't do a load test, they just hooked it up to see if it was "good" and he said it was... so I am thinking it was the blown fuse.
