I'll add a little more info to my original reply. I had the Harley center stand on my Fatboy which was lowered an inch in the rear. It did add a very small amount of metal below the frame but I never had any problems with scraping when maneuvering tight twisty's. Occasionally it would scrape when going over tall speed bumps but the device has what could be described as a skid plate at the front of it. The springs which hold the legs up were very strong preventing them from dropping when hitting hard bumps in the road. The Harley center stand is a well made device and the first thing you'll notice is how heavy it is.
To engage the device, you must stand the bike up straight while standing beside it. With your right foot, step down on the stand lever while pulling back on the bike. It takes a few tries to get the feel of it but soon becomes very easy. While the bike is on the stand, it is absolutely sturdy and rock solid.
I used the stand quite often when cleaning the bike, performing quick maintenance or storing it in tight areas. I had to remove it when I installed dual exhaust otherwise I would still be using it.
There used to be a few videos on Youtube about it.
