Default Draining my gas tank

I have removed the tank a couple of times and once it was so low I actually sucked on the vacuum to get the remaining gas out. The other time I wound up spilling a bunch of gas. Sucking on the vacuum line was not really effective anybody else have an idea of something else to use. I have several days of rain coming and I want to wire my fog lights the correctly with the wiring kit that came with it rather than the straight switch that I have wired now.

If you have a Harbor Freight around your area they sell a gas siphon pump for under $10.
Its not much to look at, but its good enough to empy a Hogs tank without much trouble.

I have that siphon, but was worried I might mess up the floats for the guage???? It worked well when I pulled the gas tank on my bug!! I guess I would have to siphon from both sides??

I have been toying with the idea of buying a spare quick-disconnect fuel line from Harley for just such an occasion. Kind of a spendy solution at $43; but with 2 bikes here, and friends who like to wrench on their bikes, I will probably go that route the next time I need to pull the tank. Then I'll have it when I need it, and can lend it to friends. BTW, in case you didn't notice, that's how you justify buying new tools; my other vice (pun intended.)
