Chrome perches and mirror mounting ??'s

Default Chrome perches and mirror mounting ??'s
Got a set of HD chrome control parts about to go on the old deuce and want to figure out something first. Is the chrome durable enough to just bolt a mirror in the clutch perch like normal and not mess it up around the mirror base? Or am I going to have to get some kind of plastic or Teflon washers to go between the perch and bolt head and mirror base? I don't have the factory mirrors, I've got one that has a square stalk all the way down to the perch, so it's got corners that could dig. Anyone have any advice?

You would want to use washers on both sides The stock mirrors have one on the top and bottom.

Would just steel washers be enough to spread the pinch load without digging in? I'd like softer washers for peace of mind but I'm worried they wouldn't bite enough and my mirror would rotate.

Yes either stainless or chrome washers. The washers will get marred, but the mirror stem and control housing won't if adjustment is needed.
