I have a Kuryakyn KY-8987.
I think it's a bit pricy at $280 but what Harley accessory isn't a bit pricey?

I was looking at a $100 Grasshopper after reading all the good reviews of it, however the Grasshopper is a center post mount so it wouldn't work for you with a solid seat.

During my travels I stopped by the Harley Dealer in Des Moines IA. and saw the KY-8987 on the discount table for $140. After I googled the part number and saw the normal cost, I snatched it up. That being said, if I had a solid seat I would spend $280 for this backrest.

As for a review, it is certainly heavy duty and well made. It has a small pad, however once I got it adjusted properly it fits right at my lower back and is comfortable. I haven't used it on a long trip yet so I can't tell you how that works, but it's got to provide better support than air.

It does take away a few inches of seat so my Wife will need to get used to having it in front of her. On the good side though the pad has a zipper storage pouch on the back so she can store little items like her phone/iPod, smokes or whatever.

As for removal; the backrest is held by two mounting adapters on either side of the bike and the backrest post just slide into the adapters. To remove it you just push in the spring loaded "ball" and pull the backrest out of the adapters. The installation is just the reverse.

One thing you would want to look at is the width of your seat. The backrest post is about 9.5" wide on the inside so if your seat is much wider than that you could have an issue. Like I stated above there's two adapters that mound to the side rails under your seat.

I've attached a couple of pics as well as links to the pics to "my garage".

Good luck on your search.

Not sure how big a seat you want to go, Ultimate seats have a slide in rider back rest with a lock in ball detent. Comes right off when you need it to.
