Default Riders back rest

My wife was looking for a riders backrest that would fit the stock flstc seat, and we couldn't find anyone that made one. So I went out into the shop and made one. I machined areciever that attaches to the seat bolts, and then made a support that is "L" shaped. The lower part of the "L" slides between the riders and passengers seat and locks into the reciever. The reciever stays on, and the backrest is removable. Because the reciever is under the passengers seat, it can't be seen. Two evenings of machining and welding to do what Harley should have made available. Don

Let's see a picture! I actually have a Pro Tach backrest that probably would have worked. They look a little goofy though.

I'd like to see a picture, too. I'm a great appreciator of ingenuity.

I'm still working on the pad, but will post some pictures of the bar and the reciever. It took a while to get all the bend radius and angles figured out. Don

I have the Firehouse backrest and like it ... but I'd love to see what you put together. The Firehouse takes about 5 minutes to put on or take off so it's not intollerable, but having something that slips in and out might be nice.

Finished the backrest. Good news is that it is easy to install and remove. Also, the bracket cannot be seen so when you remove the backrest, everything looks normal. Takes a few seconds to slide the backrest in or out. Installing the bracket is a case of removing the back pad, and installing the reciever under the two front seat nuts. Takes less than 5 minutes. Once it is installed, you can install or remove the backrest in seconds. It took me a while to work out the angles and radius, but I wonder why HD doesn't offera backrest for the stock seat?

You should have taken the Firehouse advise.

why? because, it's better to buy something than to use your own ingenuity and talents?
