Without the tool a shop uses the rule of thumb is to take the belt between Ur thumb and finger and adjust it so U can turn/twist Ur belt about 45* in the middle of it at the bottom.
It'd still be a good Idea to get a Shop Manual if u plan on doing very much of Ur own work.
