Im not going to buy anything because of where it's made. I will buy it based on the quality of the product.
That's why I quit buying so called "American" cars. Was a previous GM lifer.
Horrible quality vehicles. Horrible and dishonest service/warranty. As reward for my loyalty...I got kicked in the teeth one too many times. Moved on to German vehicles and have been rewarded with high quality and exceptional service.
...now throw the bailout and UAW sweetheart deal into the mix. I will NEVER buy an "American" car again from the big 3. Especially as long as the UAW is building them.
The "Union" haters on here crack me up. Do you know the meaning of the word hypocrisy? You hate unions and union workers but you own a Harley. Last time I checked they were made with union labor. Doesn't it bother you that your hard earned money went to support a bunch of lazy, greedy, pampered slackers? Plus you are probably the same guys saying how great a bike Harley is, and you wouldn't own anything else blah, blah, blah...You can try and justify it in your mind, but you are only deluding yourself. Don't believe for a second that if HD could fire all the union guys and replace them with minimum wage workers that the price of a Harley would drop. The only thing that would happen is the profit would go up for the MOCO and the quality would drop.
a buddy of mine is an engineer for ford. he did a 2 year stint in germany. the unions over there are even tighter than here in the states. one goes/all go. so fyi.....your german car is more than likley union made! but i'll give it to german engineering....top notch. SHAM WOW...steve
I also think encouraging buying American is great. I hate to see so many people making fun of that or finding a way to discourage it. The fact is, the guy who makes the crap we buy has a job. He can be a Chinese guy or an American guy. Our choice.
So would you buy from a Chinese owned and operated business that's in the US ran by Chinese people who live here?
I wonder how our country would be if all other countries decided to quit buying American products? What would it be like if we quit importing goods from others? It would feel like N Korea.
