Please read (accident)
No sir, I do not mind.
Thanks for the good info here.
It is inevitable that every driver will be lax in his awareness from time to time.
It is in our human nature. Remember those terror-threat levels that you don't see anymore?
It is impossible to remain scared and on high alert at all times. It's just not in us.
I wish I had learned that tidbit in motorcycle course. I live in MA.
Yes, there are a lot of Massholes here. I drive for a living, and there is always someone
entering the highway to get in front of me, and then hitting their brakes when they've "beat" me. When that happens, I increase my following distance.
I can't tell you how many times in the past week I've had people enter my lane without looking to see if anything is there.
When I ride in a group - I'll usually choose the inside of a staggered formation. Just because the guy I ride with most like the yellow line. When I'm solo - I'll usually take the middle or left of the lane. Very rarely will I travel in the left lane on the highway.
In town, I watch the parked cars for opening doors - and look through the rear window to see if anyone is fixing to throw the door open in my path. And I try to never assume that I will be given the right of way.
Recently, a new trend has started around here/ People will wait until you are all most near them to cut out in front of you. even though the road was clear for them to go before you got close. Causes instant feelings of rage. Several times, I've wanted to follow them with my 36" pipe wrench.... But damn, this conscience !
