hey all .. i just ordered and installed my new digital speedo ....
problem im having is the ABS light stays on ... ( i dont have abs ) after looking closer it reads if you dont have abs you need to have the dealer flash it for you ...
CRAP ..... so i went to the dealer and their telling me its $80 an hour to flash it ( might not take a hour but even at 30 mins $40 ..
so my question is .. is there any way i can reset it or flash it myself ?
I, too, believe the ECM must be flashed by the dealer.
IIRC, the only other alternative is to purchase an SE race tuner. It has the capability of flashing the ECM but it costs several hundred dollars. The SE street tuner can only remap the ECM not flash it.
If I am wrong (I apologize) and others can chime in and correct me.
So, in reality, it's either pay the dealer or ride around with the ABS light on.
one last question ... once i flash the speedo .. ( bec im moving overseas) ... I may need to swap back to the old speedo for a day to pass inspection ... will i need to flash the ecm again .. or is it once and done
just out or curiosity .. what does the tool need to do to clear the ABS light .. found this tool .. might be worth my while to get it if im gonna keep messing with my bike
that tool is only for reading codes and data.. it won't reprogram the ecu's.
the dealer should be able to tell you whether they charge $40 or $80.. its not an unknown on how long the reflash takes.. my guess is it only take 5-10 minutes actual time.
I reflash cager pcms all the time.. most take 2-3 minutes to do, with the longest about 20-25 minutes.. that ones a huge reflash for hybrid models.. almost a complete ground up rewrite. flashing a pcm to not activate an abs light shouldn't take long at all.
is there a tool out there that will flash the harly's that isnt $3000?
hahah
id like to get one .. bec im moving overseas .. but 3 grand is a little much
Refer back to earlier posts. olongapo1 and I gave you "tools" that will flash the ECM.

I'm not sure where you got the $3,000 figure unless it was arbitrarily thrown out there. Below is the info for the SERT. You can Google the Pro Race Tuner.
SE Race Tuner (SERT) ..........Part # 32109-08B..........$459.95
SERT software .....................Part # 32111-11............$29.95
Cable .................................Part # 32184-08A.......... $39.95
