Went with the HD tractor seat on my Bones. Its the most comfortable seat I have ever had on a softail. Front is so narrow that it more than makes up for the seat height when ground reach is a concern.
Not in the pic but I also clear coated a classic bandana to the battery cover under the seat. I really like the look.

Would it be possible for you to put a pic of the Bandana on the battery cover? I've been trying to think of a good place for my Hoka Hey Bandana and that sounds like a damn good idea.
I documented my install some time ago. The stock Crossbones seat is very comfortable. I will also be getting a 1925 seat to try out, but they are interchangeable on the same mount. the 2005 frame and my 2001 frame are the same, so i suppose one could reproduce my rear spring mounts if you want to go that way and only utilize the front mount from the Crossbones.
No matter whether you choose the stock crossbones or the 1925 seat (or both), you will really like the spring solo set up. I have ridden a 750 mile day (11 hours) on it and remained very comfortable.
Well, I have pretty much resigned myself to the Mother Roads mount and a tractor style seat. KLF33, Much of the reason I won't buy the Larosa mount is your threads. I have read in depth your thoughts and quite frankly, I believe them. I like the factory Bones mount, but think the MR set up is cleaner and wont need any trimming.
I think the factory Bones and R/K seats are the $hit for comfort, but I think they are a bit bulky in style. I'll keep you guys updated with pics as do the install. Right now I am installing 80 spokes and white walls, and thats taking up most of my spare brain power. I appreciate all the input because I have a bad habit of just buying and trying two or three setups and seeing which ones I like, but at the prices of spring seats, I want it right the first time. I really thank you guys for the replies.
SprungDave, I have to say..... I LOVE the look you created!
BikerLaw, sigh.. do not remind me of the Larosa days .
I find the Comfort depends on the angle of the seat more than anything else, if you angle it properly (which is a function of your front nose setup and the height of your springs) you put the weight on the right area of your *** .

Sure, will do. Just need to take a few minutes and get some new pics. Will post up in the next day or two.
HD 1925 original solo... can ride all day with no issues. stock Crossbones seat could only be ridden for about an hour at a time. Tractor seat looks better too IMHO.

I'm in suspense here! Did you ever install that MRC frame and ECM cover?
