im gonna go with the fat spokes from dna i had them on my 02 softail and liked them.
where is everyone getting the white walls?
also kozy it looks like you dont any problems with lowering the rear end can you confirm this or did you have to do any mods.
18x4.25 with a 150/70/18 tire. That is how it is done on a Deluxe. 25mm bearings etc. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. Wheels are on my brain, all the time.
Hey Hogpro.......gonna take you up on that "any questions just ask" offer.....I have an 03 Fatboy. Stock wheel / tire set up was a 150/80-16 on a 16x3. I wanna go 18" wheel with a Wide White Wall and was thinking about the 150/70-18 that you mentioned. Will that fit with an 18x4.25 or an 18x3.5 wheel ? I really like the look of what Kozy is runnin there.
OK I know this is gonna sound like a stupid question, but I have been wondering for a long time, other that the "look" do these larger rims improve the ride and/or handling over the stock wheel size?
I really have been drooling over the Hogpro Matrix wheels.
Hopefully be able to jump on them sometime next summer, but until then doing my homework.

There are many varying opinions whether different size wheels improve the ride or not. I think it really depends on your perception. I have had customers call and say that their bike is a brand new bike and rides better than ever, and I have had customers call and say that their bike rides like a dump truck.
I prefer my 21" front wheel on my bagger and find that the shape of the tire, tire compound, looks of the wheel etc change the handling characteristics of the bike to something that I much prefer. It sits a little higher in the front which gives me more ground clearance, the 120/70/21 tire is much more round than the stock 130 tire thus the bike falls into corners easier, and the compound and tread pattern of the tire is much better which makes a huge difference in the handling of the bike.
Some guys like to lower the front end 1" when they add a 21" wheel as the bike sits a little higher with the 21" in the front but I prefer the added ground clearance.
When I added a 21" on my softail after a while I decided to lower the front end 1" but I rode it without lowering it for about a year. I think the lowering has more to do with looks than handling and performance as a softail already sits low and has minimal ground clearance.
The idea of lowering the bike is to bring the steering geometry back into stock spec but your results will vary as all of this is very subjective.
I have an 18/4.25 with a metzler 150. It's tight, but no issues at all
I also have a 21/3.5 to fill out the fender more
Kozy... I know this is an older post but hope you see my message.
Beautiful bike... Did you use Diamond Back tire to add the WWW to your rear tire? Has the perfect size WWW for my taste. Not too thin and not as thick as my current 16" WWWs
I am adding Black Bike Wheels aluminum 60 Spoke 18 x 4.25 rear and 18 x 3.5 front and want to run a Avon Cobra or ME 888 150/70/18 and 130/70/18 WWW so I have to have them made.
i ordered a 18x4.25 rear wheel. DNA said I needed a 160x60 18 rear tire. That will work right? I see everyone is saying the 150x70 18
i have an 09 Deluxe
